6.11 - Feeling Blue

Kenzie doesn’t even think anymore when she paints, she just lets her hands do whatever they want and pull their motive from her inner most subconscious. This one looks like a tent being beamed up by aliens. She doesn’t realize she’s thinking about Derrick until its done. She doesn’t sell the painting, she throws it in the trash.

She wins an award for her paintings but barely reacts or cleans herself up for the ceremony. She hasn’t even bothered changing her dress colour in days.

She doesn’t feel pink like her daughters, or lively and green like Dublin and Ireland. But purple is too obvious so blue will have to do.

She thinks about him constantly. Every time she closes her eyes to sleep she sees him in her dreams.

Sometimes she wonders what life would have been like if he hadn’t been so intent on making a name for himself in the scientific community. It would have been nice to live with him, move into a new house with enough rooms for an even larger family. Paris would have had younger siblings to play with and who knows what else.

But thats not real life. This is.

She’ll keep this painting, she decides. In case Paris ever wants to know what her father looks like and doesn’t have a mirror handy.

She celebrates her birthday into full adulthood all alone.

She’s raised three children into their teen years all by herself, and in only a few days her two eldest will be starting their own lives. Not a bad life really. At least in reference to the next generation of Sabos and what they might one day become.

True to her word, Paris has been putting all her time and effort into research.

She learns the cure was first developed in the Sunset Valley Science Laboratories under the supervision of local politician Matthew Starr. It was also Matthew who insisted the secret of the cure never leave the labs to keep it from being abused by those who saw vampirism as a curse instead of just another kind of human species.
Faintly, Paris wonders if Teddy is related to Matthew at all. Same last name and all that.

Online research reveals the Labs were destroyed in a riot by rouge vampires who opposed the idea of a cure... almost eight generations after the cure had been created, perfected and begun distribution. The whole things smells like government coverup but her siblings are the neurotic ones, not her. She’ll leave conspiracy theories for them and try to see what else she can find out from more legitimate sites.

Preliminary trials show nothing, not that she expected them to. She doesn’t know where to start, even with the leftover notes her sister “borrowed” to bring Ireland to life.

Paris is doing something to change lives. Homework takes a back seat to her current hobby and Madrid has a bad habit of always leaving her finished homework on the table. Paris feels no guilt what so ever.

Jacob’s been working day and night in order to get the most yield from his garden. He hasn’t been spending as much time with his wife as he would like.

Nonetheless, they’ve been together for yeas and Sabina understands his feelings without need for words or caress. They’re still very much in love.

The twins (plus Ireland’s) birthday arrives.
Kenzie can’t believe her babies are so big already. Older than she was when they were born.

Dublin:

Ireland:

And Madrid:

That same night all three move out. Ireland and Dublin to a house across town with a few extra rooms, and Madrid just across the street to the house her grandfather grew up in.

---

Cutting it short here because last night I actually worked on my novels. Haven't done that in a while. Finally realizing just how horrible I am at grammar. (Ugh)

Happy to announce Jacob just reached the top of the Gardener career at age 98! Regular sim lifespan is set to 90. Sabina is at 96. Wtf Gen 5? Well, my plot for the end of Gen 6 works wether or not they're both alive and kicking so I don't mind. I'll be sad when they die.

Also: It is REALLY hard to write as a depressed character.

I refuse to accept Kenzie is a full adult now. In my mind she will always be young and beautiful ><. But on the upside... no midlife crisis!

6.10 - A New Mission

Jacob’s getting old, and has reached the ninth level of the gardening career. There are whispers around town that he isn’t human but a creature of the earth or even a member of the fae.
Ah, if only they knew.

But still, fishing is where his heart lies.

At least Paris loves the garden. She doesn’t understand why but there’s just something about being outside in nature that calms her down and makes school work easier. Go figure!

She loves being outside, especially at the public pool. Unfortunately for Dublin, he always ends up babysitting.

Whatever, at least he gets home in time to make dinner. Perfect spaghetti. No big deal.

He also always makes it home in time to woo Ireland and make her melt.

They’re perfect for each other.

And they don’t care who knows it.

Paris doesn’t really enjoy chemistry like her older sister does, but she does like seeing the different effects and colours all these chemicals make.
Don’t mind Sabina, she’s just trying to break through the locks Dublin put on his search history. He’s obviously up to something.

Gah! Porn!

And what about Madrid? Oh she’s been spending a lot of time helping Grandpa Jacob with the garden.

Paris’ birthday arrives and she invites her best friend over for a double party.

Teddy goes first.

Hello sexy.

Seriously, just sexy.

And Paris.

Oh she’s going to be trouble.

No body pays attention to them after the cake is gone so in a huff Paris insists she and Teddy go out. She doesn’t care where.

They end up at the pool and Teddy hesitates before entering. “It’s goanna suck when I’m an adult.”
“How come?”
“You don’t know?” He seems surprised. “When I’m an adult I become a full vampire like my mom and dad. The sun’ll burn me if I stay out for too long. Mom and dad can handle it longer than most because they’ve been here for generations, but I could burn up and die if I ever wanted to stay out all day like we did as kids.”

Paris doesn’t like the sound of that. Like her, he has a love for the outdoors. She’d go crazy if she were stuck in doors all day. “Well... isn’t there anything you can do?”
“In case you haven’t noticed the cure to vampirism is sort of non-existent these days. No one’s been able to figure out how to manufacture a new version of the cure and mom says most laboratories have given up.”

“Hey I bet I could figure it out!”
Teddy tries to keep from rolling his eyes and fails horribly. “Please, Paris. You’re not as smart as you think you are.”
“Smarter then you.”
“That’s not saying much.”
“Oh come on Teddy bear. What’s the harm in trying?”

He doesn’t want to have hope, especially since both his parents have exhausted all their resources in trying to find a cure for him and found nothing. But hey... if he’s learned one thing in life its that Paris Sabo-Crist gets whatever the hell she wants.
“Well... I guess you’re right.”
“Bitch, I’m always right.”
“Watch it Paris. I can still beat you up.”

To be honest, she has no idea if a cure is possible to be discovered in only one lifetime, but its worth a shot. Teddy is her best friend, and she doesn’t want to see him unhappy. She’ll try her best, and then see what happens.

---

Do not ask... about the horns... THEY SUIT HER, OKAY? They're not meant to look real in my story, they're just meant to be her trying to get attention. Which wasn't originally supposed to be an aspect of her personalty but now that I've written it in the post-chapter comment it must be so. Sorry, Paris.

They're also a free accessory from New Sea found here. So is her hair now that I think about it. Found here if you want it. It's pretty adorable.

Sabina and Jacob are both over their 90 day lifespan. Sabina is at 94 and Jacob is at 96. They could go any day now and Jacob still has 10k to go before getting to the end of his gardener career. DAMMIT JACOB YOU CAN DO THIS. YOU'RE SO CLOSE. (At time of posting: 2.3 k left. And both are still alive. Don't do this to me Jacob you can do it!)

6.9 - I'm Not Okay

Madrid has been spending a lot of time with grandpa lately. Chemistry was fascinating, but biology is even more so, and she loves learning to fish.

“Look grandpa! It’s so big!”
“Oh yes... you should take that straight to the science laboratories. They’ll give you a medal for it!”
“... No need to take sarcasm so far.”

He also teaches her the delicate art of gardening, and the difference between a normal apple from the grocery store, and a perfectly cultivated organic Sabo apple.

Days after Derrick’s departure Paris’ birthday arrives.

With it a birthday card from Egypt with only a generic happy birthday message on it. Kenzie places it in the nursery where Paris can look at it when she wants to.

Paris gains the hot-headed trait.

F-ing chess pieces. Why do you fail her so bad when she plays against Grandma?

Prom!

Prom goes great for the teens. Dublin and Ireland decide to give romance a shot.

Madrid doesn’t get a boyfriend, but she does win the title of Prom Queen.

While her older siblings are partying away, Paris spends the day at the park by herself.

At least until she makes a new friend.

His name is Theodore Starr and he is amazing. His eyes match her shirt!
“I’m going to call you Teddy.” She decides.
“But my name is Theordore.”
“Nope! Now its Teddy.”
‘Teddy’ decides he should have taken his dad’s advice and stayed home today. His cousins are messed up, man.

But eventually he decides he likes Paris and goes over to her house after school a lot.
His parents never let him play Vampire Hunters 4 and Paris’ mom is always locked up in her room painting. No one stops him from doing whatever he wants!

Well except for this pint sized genius.
“Teddy your mom is the principal! If you keep missing homework you’re going to get in big trouble! School is really important, y’know.”

“Ugh, homework is only important if you want to get a dumb job.” He whines. “I’m just goanna be a musician and strum on my guitar all day long. Like my dad!”

Paris decides to just let him make his own mistakes. Obviously boys are stupid and should not be bothered with.

Plus he kicks her ass at pillow fighting.

Sabina calls in her resignation and stays home to watch after her grandchildren. She would have liked to keep working but Kenzie hasn’t talked to anyone since Derrick’s departure and Sabina knows her grandkids need a mother’s hand around the house.

Kenzie insists she’s fine. Really. Look! She’s even drawing pretty flowers!

Word around town is that Madeline is pregnant with her and Ryan’s second child so Kenzie decides to visit her sister and shut everyone up.

“There is nothing wrong with me!” Kenzie insists as soon as Maddie starts asking about how she’s doing without her husband. “In reality Derrick and I were married for only our honeymoon. As soon as he decided to put his work ahead of our family I knew it was over. But I raised the twins on my own, Paris and I will be fine, and I still have mom and dad to help me. Besides, Paris doesn’t even ask about her dad.”

“I’m didn’t ask about the kids.” Maddie points out. “I asked how you’re doing. Derrick was your first love. I’m your twin sister and you never could hide your feelings towards him. Brandon was your attempt to get over him and that turned into hell. I don’t believe for a second that you’re okay with losing Derrick like this all over again.”

“I’m okay.” She insists. “Really. I don’t care that he told me he loved me and then just...”

She falters and the tears well up in her eyes. “And then he just left... again... after he promised me he wouldn’t ever leave me.”

Maddie opens her arms, just holding her sister tight as she cries into her shoulder.
“It’s okay Kenzie... you’ll be okay.”
“No...” Kenzie mutters, still sobbing. “It’s not okay. But whatever, it doesn’t matter.”
Maddie wishes she could make this pain go away, like she could when they were kids, but even Ryan can’t get in touch with Derrick anymore. And goodness knows they’ve tried. She just hopes her little sister will someday move on.

---

Maddie and Ryan have a daughter. Named Elvira. She's sort of beautiful.

TEDDY OH MAH GOSH. He's a teen in my game right now and woooooow. I literally cannot stop staring at him and Paris. F- glitches, f- lag. I WILL GET TO THEIR GENERATION. Oh and in case it wasn't obvious, his parents are Marie and Angel Starr.

Also: Poor Kenzie. < / 3
